A distinctive hybrid with Belgian roots
This elegant climbing Philodendron combines the striking orange petioles of Philodendron billietiae with the refined, elongated foliage of Philodendron atabapoense. The result is a unique hybrid with a graceful appearance that becomes even more impressive as it matures.
These plants originate from a Belgian breeding programme and were grown locally in Belgium, offering collectors a sustainably produced plant with a well-documented origin.
A unique hybrid with elegant foliage
This Philodendron combines characteristics of two iconic South American species. Philodendron billietiae × atabapoense combines the vibrant orange petioles of Philodendron billietiae with the elegant, elongated foliage and rich maroon leaf undersides characteristic of Philodendron atabapoense. The result is a striking climbing hybrid that becomes increasingly impressive as it matures.
Although these plants were originally supplied as Philodendron billietiae, their growth clearly shows characteristics of both parent species. We therefore offer them as Philodendron billietiae × atabapoense.
As the plants continue to mature, leaf size, shape and overall appearance may continue to develop.
Plant care
- Light: Bright indirect light.
- Water: Allow the upper layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings.
- Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity but adapts well to normal indoor conditions.
- Growth habit: Climbing. A moss pole or other support will encourage larger, more mature foliage.
- Temperature: Ideally between 18 and 28°C.
Good to know
Like many climbing Philodendrons, this hybrid becomes increasingly impressive as it matures. Providing vertical support allows the leaves to become significantly larger over time.
